Sigh, I wished I'd held off for a couple days before I placed my earlier order. I could've saved a few bucks on the shipping. Oh well...

It's difficult but I'll hold with buying these until the celt cavalery comes out. Then I'll use parts of both sets to create My romanised celts for the romans and the "real" celtic cavalery. (They are a bit to modern for the ceasarian romans) Wargamers factory has really gained momentum though.

Hi Some friendly but serious citic I got your order yesterday, surpriseingly fast compered to other manufacturers. Im pleased with the service, however, I do have some negative cirtisism to put forward. Here is a plus and minus list. + Fast delivery (From the US to Sweden in 4 days counting a weekend!) + Good information and service + The best price per miniature on the market +I got extra stuff -The AC figures dont look good. I have seen worse but I'm not satisfied. Bad proportions and sligthly disformed atonomy. -The are to big to look good beside my Foundry and Warlord Romans. -A lot of work needed to shape necks when putting the figures together. -The horses look like fat ponnys or dogs. -The detail are not distinkt enough on chainmail etc. For those who dont care so much about how their miniatures look at a close distance, WF Auxiliary Cavalry are totaly fine. The price is exelent and you get many in a pack. I think they will look pretty much better after I painted them tough (Like with Gripping Beast). Im a collector, painter and moddeler first and a gamer second so to me its a big deal how they look. Im going to field them when I do big battles and need a lot of horse but otherwise I have to go with my Foundry and Warlord. I hope you can make them look a litle better in the future becouse I like your service. You would gain much by making them compatible with Foundry and Warlord armys becouse many people already have those romans. (Excuse the terrible english) Regards/Erik

I love the paint jobs on these! To the last poster, I don't believe WF's intention is to match with Warlord (which are very small IMO) but their models do match very well with Copplestone and Saleh's Romans for Foundry. As for the horses being ponies, I believe that that is historically accurate. I have my order in and am looking forward to assembling these.

Those javelin packs look very nice. As for compatibility with other ranges; don't try to mix-and-match. If you stick with one manufacturer for your army you *shouldn't* have an issue. Making a hodge-podge of Foundry, Warlord and WF figures is always going to look terrible <- sorry to burst your bubble. I understand that some kids like to pick up pieces that are missing from the manufacturer that they started their army with from other sources but I really don't think you can also moan about scale creep or sculpt quality when you do. Personally I hope to slowly build up an EIR army as WF release the figures; using only WF figures until the range gives me enough bits to field an army for FoG.

Gotta have some, but I'll wait for the packaging, which I hope will contain shield transfers. I can't paint shields worth a hoot.

I'd just like to say good job on getting some well-painted preview pics up before the release, people really want to see painted models before they order. Unpainted models or even worse, 3D renders can make a well-sculpted model look pretty bad. Very nice paintjob, too... whoever's doing it, get them to keep doing it, that's a professional level of painting and photography right there, and it really shows off the detail on the models. :)
Dan Peterson, Roman Author and Historian commented on 01-Apr-2009 05:30 PM3 out of 5 stars
The work steadily improves, though in this set the enormous size of of human heads is readily apparent. These heads are just the right size for 1/48 scale figures (40mm tall) yet they are on 28mm high bodies! It is true many Roman cavalry horses were really the size of ponies, as portrayed here, and you can see this in my book where we used the small Carmargue ponies in our experimental archaeology. But the skeletons of larger Roman cavalry horses have been found. These ponies would probably be good for inferior Cohors Equitata, but not the elite Cavalry Alae. I will make mine into anatomically correct 1/48 scale figures, since their heads dictate they must be this scale. Why do mainstream wargamers insist on using armies that look like dwarves and not regular humans? At least it is easier to make them the correct height when made of plastic like these instead of metal.

Looking good, can you show the sprues as well? To Dan Peterson "Why do mainstream wargamers insist on using armies that look like dwarves and not regular humans? At least it is easier to make them the correct height when made of plastic like these instead of metal." It has to do with what will look good on a small scale with static figures. Since faces are the first thing people look it making them oversized makes the figure feel more realistic even if it's out of proportion. It's the same reason limbs and weapons tend to be oversized, it stresses what we unconsciously think of as important. Illustrators and comic artists do the same thing all the time.

Son unas figuras magnificas ..aunque son de epoca posterior a la de Cesar ..demasiado modernas , pero aun asi son fantasticas!!!
Tattoo Steve commented on 04-Aug-2009 12:39 AM5 out of 5 stars
I plan on using any extra heads from the Caesar's Legionaries to represent the cavalry at the time of Caesar... I'm assuming that at that point Roman Cavalry would have been used in a more conventional role rather than as heavy shock cavalry. So arming them with a mix of javelins, spears and spathas would be appropriate. I plan on doing this in a FoG army. Can anyone help me out?

Bought this yesterday at NAN's Games in Houston. Great figures! Very detailed! I plan on using mine for conversions for my Imperial Guard 40K army. Thanks for the great product! I have purchase Warlord romans in the past and they are two small! They look more like 1/72 figures than 1/56 (28mm). I like the size of the figures as they lend well to the rest of my army/s. Keep up the good work!

Look good. I hope you make EIR Sagittarii (bow equipped) cavalry as well. Its a big gap in most model lines being produced today.
Carl Hendrickson commented on 03-Nov-2009 04:55 AM5 out of 5 stars
The horses are historically correct. As for head size I think we are getting carried away from three feet away on a wargames table it is not noticeable. Excellent product just excellent.
Axel commented on 16-Nov-2009 09:57 AM3 out of 5 stars
Just received my pack yesterday, together with the Celtic cavalry. Imho the heads are too large for the bodies. I will not use them but replace them with others, probably legionaries and celts. The celts look good.
